As the Lead Product Designer for Festyland, a music-oriented festival application, I played a dual role, also acting as the “client” for this pro-bono project, where the company would retain the rights to the code. With a background in the music industry, I was able to leverage my firsthand experience as both a user and a designer, conducting thorough research and tapping into my industry knowledge to guide the project.
To ensure the app met user needs and stood out in a competitive market, I conducted an in-depth analysis of over 8 different music festival apps. This helped me benchmark our functional and feature specifications, identify common features, and pinpoint areas for improvement, while also uncovering missing functionalities that could enhance the user experience.
A key feature I designed is the performance schedule and “My Schedule” builder, which allows users to search for acts and musicians performing at the festival and curate their own personalized schedule. This feature is accessible at any time, directly in their pocket, enhancing the overall festival experience.
